Did you ever have someone who adds color to your life by just thinking about them? Well I made this card for a dear friend and her mom who do that very thing for me! It is a cool and rainy day here but right now my heart is smiling because it is filled with the warmth and love of my special friends! I purposely left the top panel plain to help depict a work of art in progress. I don't know if you can tell from the blog photo but if you click on it you will notice I didn't color the whole branch. My Dad's birthday is this weekend and I used some Cornish Heritage Farm stamps paired up with Graphic 45 paper. Antique Linen ink was used to distress the sentiment and image. I adhered the first part of the sentiment and added some dimension under the end to create a free flowing appearance like you're driving down the road : )

On the inside I included this image from Crafty Secrets Classic Cars. The words around the speedometer and the indicator on the dial are separate from the dial itself. I love it!! Dad is going to be 82 and going strong so I set the dial accordingly. If I get to be 82 I hope I'm still cruisin' like my Dad! Mookie and Me

This is our dog Mookie with my husband's new reading glasses. Yes we are at that age!! Everyone was having fun trying them on and of course someone said I wonder what Mookie would look like in them?? And in our house that's all it takes so one day at lunch (that's how we were able to get him to sit still) we tried it! Then we thought we need to take a picture so our daughter who is away at college could see him. We had so much fun! Of course I made it into a card and sent it off. On the inside the sentiment reads "My heart smiles with thoughts of you!" and we signed it Mookie with a P.S. - "Make no bones about it I can't wait to see you!"

The card arrived the Tuesday before Thanksgiving - the same day my husband was picking our daughter up from school. On that same day, we received some very sad news. I had taken Mookie to the vet because he didn't seem to be doing well and we were told he had metastatic cancer. My eyes filled up with tears. Mookie was the first dog we had ever owned and without me knowing it, he had crept into the depths of my heart and had laid hold of it. I remember getting into our van and I just sat there and wept. I called my husband who was on the road and shared the news with him.

Our children's heart broke as we told them about Mookie's condition. Ten years ago we adopted him from a rescue agency when he was 6 months old. Our children's first thoughts were we need to take him to the beach because that is what he loves. So the Sunday after Thanksgiving, we took him to enjoy what he loved. We live about 20 minutes from the Virginia Beach oceanfront and God gave us a beautiful unseasonably warm day to enjoy together as a whole family. Something we had not done in over a year because of our family situation. I was so thankful to God for providing someone to care for Grandma (who has dementia) so we were able to enjoy this time together! As a Mom this is one of those memories that will be etched on my heart forever. Mookie thoroughly enjoyed himself and so did we!

A week later we had to put Mookie down because his condition had greatly deteriorated. He was a rescue dog who was a rescuer. When our youngest had put a small clear tube from a watercolor brush in his mouth Mookie stopped playing with our oldest daughter and just sat by the baby until we came and took care of the problem. When the baby would venture up the stairs he would follow closely behind. Then there was the time he let us know during the middle of the night something suspicious was going on and long and short of it my husband and I were summoned as witnesses to court because Mookie helped alert us to an attempted armed home invasion in the neighborhood. Mookie would let us know whenever Grandma was on the move or someone was coming. He was also our helper and companion and I thank God for every moment that He gave us with Mookie. I know this was long but thanks for letting me share my heart with you today!

I have found when I need dimension and and a dimensional is too much I just add some scraps of card stock and it works out perfectly! Hark the Herald

As I have been in the process of making Christmas cards for the special people in our lives I thought to myself "Don't forget Dad and Mom!" Three years ago when we were facing the prospect of having my husband's mom come to live with us I recall sharing with my folks what laid on the horizon before us. I wondered how they would respond? I remember my Mom's response as she first spoke of her concern for our well being as a family with four children and then she said " Your Dad said not to worry that you would do the right thing." Dad and Mom have been nothing but supportive and they have made sacrifices because we live 450 miles from them and cannot freely travel due to our situation. As I write this my eyes are filled with tears and my heart with gratitude for their unconditional love. They have been nothing but angels and so this card is for you Dad and Mom!
I used an image from Crafty Secret's Christmas Images and Journal Notes. Mounted on a banner from Vicki's Etsy Shop. ( I don't see any there now but just contact her if you are interested - she's so sweet to work with! ) I couldn't help but add some mini pearls on top of the banner's polka dots. The flower had a bright green stamen that did not make for such a great match so I added some Gold Prisma Ultrafine Glitter and my dilemma was solved and while I had the glitter out I thought why not added it to the petals too : ) I used pearlized vanilla and brushed gold for my snowflakes and background papers. The silk ribbon is from Sharon's Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. I really enjoy working with it - so soft and pretty! They Saw a Star

Another Christmas card is completed and I think this will go to my friend who is an avid knitter. She enjoys going to the Sheep and Wool Festival whenever she has the opportunity and even has been known to spin her own yarn from time to time. This friend has been with our family through thick and thin and is a gift from God. It truly brings joy to my heart when I have an opportunity like this to create with a purpose in my heart!

This card is based it on the MFT sketch challenge and uses one of their Pure Innocence Images. The star is from a retired SU! set - Polar Bear. I was excited when I found this DP because it provided a natural divided panel as depicted in the sketch. I felt like the top and bottom panels needed a little something and when I added these Hero Art gems it seemed to be the perfect fit. In person, they are subtle yet eye catching. Crafty Secrets - O Christmas Tree

Just to let you know they are having a sale over at Crafty Secrets and you can read about it here. I used an image and chipboard from the Christmas Vintage Postcard Kit for my card today.

I then added a few extras - Flower Soft for the tree and its snow, mica flakes for the snow on the ground, Gelly Roll pens for the red and white berries and then a few tiny baby pine cones for the background trees. I edged the image with PTI's Fresh Snow Ink and it was mounted on papers from Memory Box's Dewfrost Collection. Next I added some silk ribbon, lace, and buttons and my project was completed. I am glad to say I now have one more Christmas card finished for this year! A Gift for You

I'm back again with another Christmas project. I used Basic Grey's Wassail to cover the front of a plain white gift bag and added some velvet ribbon and lace.

Last year I read a tutorial by Debbie Olson on how to make a poinsettia using Tim Holtz's Tattered Flowers die. Since then I have always wanted to give this a try this so this project gave me the perfect opportunity. The flower was stamped using Our Daily Bread Design's Joy to The World Hymn with PTI's Fresh Snow Ink and the edges were inked with Photo Vintage. The center was made with two Cuttlebug die glittered snowflakes. A simple project to dress up a plain gift bag. Don't you just love simple? Yes I am back again! Our second daughter is going to be turning 20 next week so I decided to make our little princess none other than a princess card. It is based off of MFTWSC 44. I used MFT 's Something Special Just For You and some K & Co. paper. I used two types of paper for the grass to add extra dimension and color. My husband and I went to Dollar Deals and bought the fixings for a Princess Party so she and her suite mates can celebrate at school. It was so fun - brought back lots of sweet memories. If time allows I'm thinking about making tutus for the girls out of some netting to include in the birthday box. Why not we already have the wands, jewelry, and fixings for DIY crowns! Mad Hatter Treat Box

Our daughter who is an Alice in Wonderland fan has been having a tough time at her job. I painted this take out container and added a base to make a treat holder for her desk at work. So when she is feeling "mad" or should I say bad she can help herself to something good to eat. I added a paper band on the box, Primas, and an image from Crafty Secrets' Wonderland Tea Scraps. I used a Copic R81 to alter my flowers and I found if there is a coating on the petals just color from behind. I hope you have a day filled with gladness and not things that make you mad!

I made this for my mom. She is the one who turned our house into a home. I am taking a beginning quilting class and plan on giving her the project from this class. I thought I would include this card. We had an antique shop in our home when I was growing up and mom was either painting, planting, sewing or weaving just to mention a few of her many interests and talents. It's that time of year again! The school year is coming to an end and I have been working on teacher appreciation gifts for our son's school. The theme of teacher's lunch this year is based on the sweet children's book "Mrs. Spitzer's Garden". It is a story about a principal who passes out a package of seeds to each of the teachers at the beginning of the school year and the book chronicles the journey of these little seeds as they are planted. For example, some plants grow to be bold and showy while others are quiet and the color of the earth. The ladies are going to put a small bag of compost from the school's recycling program and place a packet of seeds in each of the boxes. I made this card for our 7 year old son' teacher to let her know how much we appreciate her. The children have an incubator in their room and they have been watching the chicks hatch. So far there are four little chicks. Now a teacher that is willing to do this is definitely "Something to Crow About"! Wonder Journal

I have taken some time off from blogging because it was what was needed and now it seems like it is a good time to return. I have been creating but not posting. There were sets of cards for Christmas gifts, baskets of cards for fundraisers, and projects for our son's school. The latest being 50 petal cones filled with candies for the children to deliver to neighboring homes of the school for May Day.

I made this journal for our oldest daughter who just graduated in December and is teaching fourth grade in an urban school district. She is an Alice in Wonderland fan. Many days are difficult but God always seems to send an encouraging moment her way. So I made this journal for her to record those moments and on the days when she starts to "wonder"why she is doing what she does she can be reminded why this is her chosen profession. I sent her a link to this project and said "Did you read your email?" She hadn't and she proceeded to check her email and when she read it she cried and said"Thanks Mommy!" Now to me that is what this stamping is all about! All designer paper, images, stickers and stamps are from Crafty Secrets. I used a hitch fastener from Tim Holtz for the doorknob.

This past weekend some of our family from out of state drove down to visit us. What a treat it was to see them! Last time we were able to be together was at Christmas. Now that Grandma is living with us it is harder for us to travel. I wanted to make a card to thank them for their "sweet" visit so I pieced together some of the collection from Webster's Petite Papers - Postcards from Paris. Our second daughter is graduating from high school on June 14th. There is a whole group of kids who hang out together guys and girls so I thought this might make a great card for one of the guys. I was happy because I thought this is definitely one that could be reproduced! I think I may need to practice with this fine line sentiment because it was giving me a little bit of a fit : ) Ever have a stamp like that? Yes, I am still working on teacher thank you cards! Unlike some parts of the U.S., when snow comes our way things pretty much shut down. The last official day of school around here is June 21st. On another note, I have finally come to the conclusion sewing on a card is not difficult as long as your machine is handy and threaded with the right color thread : ) I used an image from Crafty Secrets Childhood Images and Journal Notes paired up with DP from October Afternoon. I distressed the my papers and cotton embellishments with Antique Linen. Due to the various layers I mounted my image with foam tape. The cursive strips were added to the DP base for a little extra zip. This card is based on this weeks Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge and SCS Crafty Secrets Challenge. Back again with another teacher thank you card. I paired up this sweet image from Crafty Secrets' Childhood images and Journal Notes with some DP from October Afternoon. I withstood the temptation to go with my natural tendency of using some type of black gingham print and went in a different direction with my colors. Needless to say I did not go without distressing my edges and lace with some Antique Linen. You know there are some things a girl just has to do : ) Thank you for stopping by and I would appreciate it if you are lead - to pray for our friends Gabe and Gayle. They just had their fourth child on Monday and their baby is not expected to live much longer. They are believers and are trusting in God's love but as you can imagine it is a difficult time. I made this card for a friend who was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She is beginning chemotherapy and I just wanted to let her know she is loved and in my prayers. I used Crafty Secrets Birds and Botanical Images and Journal Notes and vintage sheet music. I mounted the main image using foam tape and added some texture to my cardstock using Papertrey Ink's Woodgrain Impression Plate. My corner embellishments were made with my Cropodile. This layout is based on Card Patterns Sketch 65. Thanks for coming by and taking a look!

From the Heart

Teachers have a special place in my heart and I like to thank them each year in some way for the role they have played in our children's lives. I remember asking a friend who is a high school teacher what type of gifts she appreciated? She replied, "One of the most meaningful gifts is when I get a note from my student." Our second daughter is graduating from high school this year so I made this card for her history teacher. Mr. Martin has been Caroline's teacher for the last two years and served as her advisor. The students love and respect him. You know he's the kind that Hallmark features in one of their movies. I need not say anymore!

Now for the card details. I used CHF's Timetable Train Set and Graphic45's Commuique and A Proper Gentleman papers. I added some distressing with Antique Linen and borders using my DP and a Martha Stewart punch. This was another quick and simple card based on the Midnight Madness Sketch and Stampin Sisters in Christ Challenges. Dragonfly Duet

Can you tell I am on a mission? Not only am I committed to continue collecting wonderful DP but to use it as well!! This is another card made using Graphic45's Bontanicabella Collection and Inchie INKlings Sketch #6. Inchies are a great way to make use of those small scraps of paper. For texture, I used the Cuttlebug Textile embossing folder and Score It to frame in the dragonfly. I also added dimension to my sentiment and image panel using foam tape. Morning By Morning

Today's card was made using Graphic 45's Botanicabella Papers - paired up with a tag from the collection. I added a touch more red to the flower with a Copic R39 and sanded those little nubbies off the tag. Then distressed my DP with Antique Linen. For a finishing touch added some white brads colored with a Black Copic 100 . (Used a heat gun to speed up the drying process.) This card was inspired by Stampin Sisters in Christ and Stamp Simply Challenges.

As some of you know my husband's mother came to live with us last March because she was unable to live on her own due to dementia. Grandma cannot be left alone and life for our family has changed. What am I learning through all this? First and foremost I do not have the ability to love and despite of my inadequacies God's love for His people is amazing! The other precious truth that rings over and over again in my heart is God's mercies are new every morning and great is His faithfulness and for this I am very thankful. So despite how I may feel when I go to bed at night when I wake up it is a new day!

Baby On the Way

It feels good to be creating again! Lots going on here and since I had no outside commitments I decided to take some time off from blogging. This week's Stamp Simply Challenge is to make a Mother's Day or woman's card for any occasion. We just found out my nephew's wife is expecting their first baby so I thought what better occasion to celebrate! If I was on the ball I would have had it ready for Sunday. I'm sitting here thinking it's hard to believe I am going to be a great aunt! I used Graphic 45's Baby to Bride and a sketch from Inchie Inklings. The Unforgettable Paper worked out great for my squares because it had a small scale print. I didn't have the right shade green to frame my sentiment background so I edged a piece of ivory cardstock with a Copic BG10 and Antique Linen Ink. Not a difficult card but I did make a mental note to purchase a 7/8th inch square punch next time I am shopping! I Can't Believe I...

... just made a Christmas card!! After this long winter the last thing I expected or wanted to do was make a Christmas card but when I received this Crafty Secrets 3D Shadow Box the colors just seemed to say Christmas. So I am now happy to say I have my first Christmas card made for 2010! Nothing fancy just cutting and gluing, some distressing, and a little glitter and Polar White Flower Soft. This card was made using Crafty Secrets' Easter Creative Scraps, Classic DP, and Bouquet of Joy stamp set. I used my tracing wheel for faux stitching on the lower panel, added some trims, glitter, and flower and my card was complete. I love using the Crafty Secret images when I need something that is quick and easy!

This week's Stamp Simply Challenge is to make a CAS card with texture. For more details check out Sharon's blog No Time To Stamp. We would love to have you play along! I thought this could be tricky! Then I remembered this wonderful paper my daughter gave me for Christmas. It's DCWV's Bella Boutique. This particular piece is flocked. The back of the card extends beyond the front panel providing a border along the right side. I added this great image and sentiment from Crafty Secrets' Chandelier Fun, along with some flowers and a button and my card was finished. 3 D Shadow Box

I was so excited to receive the new Crafty Secrets 3D Shadow Box made with the new Accucut Die from Vicki Chrisman's blog giveaway. This was easy and fun to work with! I can't wait to get more. These will make wonderful gifts. I will be starting a class with Catherine Matthews Scanlon who encourages her students to let their work tell a story. So that is exactly what I did with this 3 D Shadow Box. All the papers and images are from Crafty Secrets. If you would like a closer view just click on the photo.

Vicki included several images and I chose this sweet girl from the Dolls Images and Journal Notes. I come from a family of three girls and so did my mom, not to mention we have three girls. We broke protocol and added a precious little boy to the bunch.

Memories - there are many! Some of my favorite are from watching our children sleep, so calm and peaceful. Often I remember standing by their crib or bed wondering how this sweet little rosy cheeked child left me feeling so frazzled just hours before?

Over the years of parenting, I have become increasingly aware of my inadequacies and my need for wisdom. And in those moments when I feel overwhelmed and helpless, I need to remember to pray because more than likely I am trying to do it on my own.

Dreams and desires for our children? As we all know, life is not easy and we cannot always be with those we love. It is the hope of my husband and I that our children would know their Heavenly Father and be assured of His love and presence with them. For is His eye not on the sparrow?

I used Crafty Secrets Little Dolls Images and Journal Notes paired up with K & Company's Cut N' Paste Paper. Nothing fancy just a little cutting and pasting. This brings back childhood memories of playing with paper dolls which is what this little vintage sweetheart is! Alright you can stop trying to guess how old I am - LOL!! I added a little sparkle to my flowers which is hard to pick up in the photo. Just click on the photo if you want the jumbo view. No Fluff Speedy Recovery

I'm loving the new no fluff option at the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. It is a great option when you need to make a guy card which is what I needed to do this week. My dad fell on the ice and fractured a vertebrae so I wanted to send him a card with wishes for a speedy recovery! It's times like these when I wish we lived closer to my folks. We are thankful he did not need to be hospitalized. The doctors are thinking rest and time will be the best medicine. Stamp Simply Challenge 129

This past Sunday I had one of the sweetest blessings when I opened my e-mail! It was a note from Sharon Johnson of No Time To Stamp? asking if I would like to be the March Guest Designer for her weekly Stamp Simply Challenge. What a privilege and honor to stamp alongside this wonderful group of designers! I feel like a little league player who has been invited to play with his favorite major league team : ) Sharon, thank you for this opportunity!!

Stamp Simply #129 - Punched Borders

The challenge is to use your border punches, or create the semblance of a punched border. You can use Nestabilities to make what resembles a punched border as Sharon did here, or even use a corner rounder punch to create a scalloped border. SCS has a tutorial on this here. If you would like to play, you can link your creation here or you can upload to SCS using the keyword ssnotime129.

I thought I would put one of the large images from Graphic 45's Domestic Goddess Paper to use. I cut out this blue ribbon winner for my focal point and pieced together some other papers from the collection for my background. I wanted to use the flowers as my scallop border but my scallop punch was too small. What then? Go to plan B and work with what you have so I just used my scissors and cut around the flowers leaving a small border. After coloring the rolling pin with a Copic R89 marker and Antique Linen Ink I adhered it with Paper Glaze. This layout is based on this week's 2 Sketches 4 You Challenge.

Alright, let's try this again - this time using a bona fide punch! The outside border was made with Fiskar's Threading Water Punch. Image and sentiment are from Crafty Secrets Girlfriends Images and Journal Notes. These are great for quick cards and Sharon carries them in her store. I thought I had square Nestabilities to make my frame with but apparently I don't so I used my square punch and trimmed around it. Funny how you can have boatloads of stuff and still not have everything!! DP is from K & Company's Ancestry's Pad. I used Brushed Corduroy Ink to color the lace and the paper. With Sympathy

Late Thursday night I read Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge was to make a sympathy card. I thought to myself what a great idea because it's the kind of thing you need to have quickly and you usually have little or no notice. Then Friday our high school senior came home from school and asked if I could make a sympathy card. She wanted to take it to school Monday so she and her classmates could sign it for a teacher whose father passed away. I tried to create something that would like it came from the students and not one of their mothers! I used Laura's Sketch 46 from 2 Sketches 4 You for the basis of my card. The main image is from Magenta and the small butterfly and sentiment are from retired SU! sets - More Great Greetings and Beautiful Butterflies. I believe there are no small coincidences is this world and for that I am thankful! I hope you are able to take a few moments this weekend to enjoy those people in your life who you treasure. Greetings! It is Friday and I hope that is a good thing for you! I know it is for me : ) Even though our weekends can be full it's nice to have a break from the school routine. I just got this Crafty Secrets Set - Greetings From Wonderland. We have some Alice in Wonderland fans at our house so it was one of those sets I couldn't pass up. I was anxious to play with it so I pulled it out to use it for Card Patterns Sketch Challenge and SCS F4A1 Challenge. These are great stamps with lots of details and they stamp well. I love using Versafine's Onyx Black with my detailed images. Nothing fancy here just some distressing and added dimension to my banner so I could hang my charm. Victorian Spring

We have had some changes at our house over the last few months that needed a little extra TLC. So I took some time off from blogging but am now trying to make an entry at least once a week. As some of you know my husband's mother moved in with us a year ago. She has dementia and we continue to see digression. We have four children and I recently have had to start home schooling our youngest. As you can imagine I can't get Grandma out as much as she would like - every day : ) So some folks at church are starting to help us by taking her out or inviting her for a visit. The reason I 'm sharing this? I needed to make some thank you cards!

I used a couple of challenges this week for inspiration in making this card -SCS Crafty Secrets, CPS Card Sketch, and Stampin' Sisters in Christ. This image reminded me of the coming of Spring as these sweet children take in the changes around them. I intended to use some lighter colors but am also committed to using what I had thus the earth tones. Maybe a better title would have been a Dark Spring Day? Mental note: Need to build up my blue DP collection. Oh well, thanks for stopping by and I hope Spring doesn't arrive one day late for you!

Yesterday I shared with you about Cards For Kids so I decided to use Crafty Secrets SCS Challenge and the Midnight Madness Card Sketch as inspiration for this card. I thought it would be a sweet card for one of the moms. The main image is from Crafty Secrets' Birds and Blossoms Creative Scraps and DP is K&CO.'s Cut N Paste Pad. The card base is one of the papers from Prismatics Cream Pack. It's hard for me to tell them all apart! I used foam tape to add dimension. I needed some dimension on one panel side but not as much as the foam tape gave so I doubled up some cardstock on the back and used it. It was the perfect solution. Happy Valentines Day! It has been a special day for us because our Valentine's baby has turned the big 21! As I say to my friends with young ones - the days are sometimes long but the years go by quickly! This cute Valentines image is a free download from Crafty Secrets. I slightly modified a bird house pattern from SCS and used Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie 8x8 pad for this puppy's little house. The touch of sparkle comes via Martha Stewart's glitter and glitter snow. I know it has been awhile since I have shared but we have had some family needs that have required extra time, love, and attention. This week the SCS Crafty Secrets Challenge is to include a mask somewhere on your project. I used an image from Girlfriends Images and Journal Notes and paired it up with K & CO.'s Cut'N Paste DP and Momenta's Story of US card stock. Just did some cutting and pasting and added a few embellishments. Went with colors that were a little different for me but figured it could be used for a birthday or friendship card if it didn't make it out in the mail in time for Halloween! Changing of the Seasons

Today my sweet daughter took Grandma and her little brother out for lunch so I could get some things done. Then later she took her brother and went to the grocery store so I had a chance to make a card. I had told myself I was going to refrain from playing until I completed some of the things that needed to be done on my "To Do List". Talk about motivation!

I am on a mission to create projects that are reproducible, not labor intensive, easy to mail, and usable! And I think this card fits the bill : ) It was made with the Changing of the Seasons digi image from ect. every thing creative . This image was a gift from participating in their WCMD challenge. I used paper from K & Co.'s Hannah's Pad and SU!'s Chocolate Chip. I printed my image on a natural card stock and aged my papers with Antique Linen ink. The temperatures are starting to drop here and we finally had to turn on our heat. It is starting to look and feel like fall and I'm loving it! One Of Those Days...

Did you ever have one of those days where what you started out to do was not what you ended up doing? I'm sure you have and today was one of those days for me. Long story short between running low on colored ink ( problem when using a digi image) and breaking a spacer plate for my Big Shot this is what I came up with. This is a small note card approximately 3.5 x 5. Although I love vintage with all the fun embellishments I also enjoy a clean and simple design which I can use for a quick card or for multiple copies for note card sets. This beautiful image is a freebie that came from etc. every thing creative blog. I am new to digi images but they have great tips on their blog to make it easy to use. Crafty Secrets Creations

Just thought I would share with you some of the projects I have recently made. This is a quick and easy Christmas card made using an image from Crafty Secrets Seasonal Booklet, Graphic45 paper, and velvet paper from Embossing Arts. I love pairing up Crafty Secrets and Graphic45!

I saw this pair of gloves at JoAnns for $1 and couldn't help but think Crafty Secrets! I made this birthday card using Halloween Image and Journal Notes and adhered it to the glove. I did some cutting and pasting to make my borders. I stamped the sentiments using the Crafty Secrets Lucky Wishes stamp set. Then I used the glove insert for a gift card holder. Added the bow on the glove and used my Copics and scissors to color and relocate some embellies that came on the glove.

The roof of this little schoolhouse lifts up and there is a container of goodies inside. A little something for that special teacher! I used Crafty Secrets Sweet Chips Folding House, School Time Stickers, and Earthy Papers. Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Fun and Friends

Sorry it has been awhile since I have posted! This card was inspired by Sylvia Long's Mother Goose. It has the cutest Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater who is a mouse. I thought this mouse from Crafty Secrets Mouse Party would be the perfect fit. I paper pieced the mouse outfit and colored him with Copics.The pumpkin pattern is from Splitcoast. I drew the stem, leaves, door and trick or treat bag.

I don't know why but I just love this stamp! In fact, it's one of my daughter's favorites. I thought this sentiment was a great fit and that it would make a fun friend or birthday card! I made this for a contest at Creative Play Stamps and won some wonderful House Mouse Stamps. Thanks to all those who voted for me and to Laura and Art for the generous prize package! Clean My Kitchen

Since I received my Girlfriend's Images and Journal Notes from Crafty Secrets, I have been wanting to make a project with this image! The sentiment reads "Make yourself at home - clean- my kitchen"! Well the time has come - on Splitcoastampers the Crafty Secrets challenge is to use yellow. Let me tell you this is definitely out of my comfort zone!! I am more of an earth tone and pastel kind of gal. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the bright and bold but I don't naturally gravitate to it when I create. It's one of those thing you admire that other people do - you know like figure skating! I used Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 15 and then through in some polka dots for Sharon's No Time To Stamp Challenge 101. Oh and the ribbon qualifies this card for Paper Craft Planets Crafty Secrets Challenge. I think that is enough challenges for one day! Paper is from K & Company's Cut'N Paste Designer Pad. I am on the east coast and the rains have stopped. It is overcast but I was able to get outside and take a picture. It rained so hard yesterday roads were flooded and my daughter couldn't get to work! The waters have receded and I am thankful! Never Too Long

I made this card for this week's Card Positioning Sketches Challenge 129. This was my first time to participate in this challenge. I decided to keep my design clean and simple. The sentiment reads "The road to a friend's house is never long." I used my tracing wheel to make the borders on my horizontal panel. I inked it in Jumbo Java to add some depth. I had to reapply ink and retrace the border because of it's length. I used my Copic Multiliner to add faux stitching to my buttons. Foam tape was used to adhere the tree tops. Happy Birthday

Sharon Johnson at No Time To Stamp is celebrating her 100th challenge. And what better way to celebrate then by making a birthday project! I made a birthday card by using an image from Crafty Secrets Summertime Images & Journal Notes. I used the Midnight Madness Sketch 14 and the Color Throwdown 55 color combo. My small buttons in the corner were brown so I anchored them down on some Score Tape so they wouldn't slip around and colored them with my black Copic. After they dried I used glue dots to adhere them. I trimmed off the bottom of a Wright's lace trim for my bottom border and adhered it to a piece of scored black card stock which I mounted to my card using foam tape. I love using Sharon's jute string for my button embellishments. She also has Crafty Secrets products in her shop. I bought my DP at Big Lots and it is called Kraft White Lattice but the company is not listed. Thanks for stopping by and I hope your day is filled with happiness!

Botanical Notes and OSW Note Holders

Recently I made three different note holders with notes using a 12x12 sheet. This was for Cornish Heritage Farms' Summer - One Sheet Wonder Challenge . There are four square 4.5 square note cards in this set.

There are six 3.5 x 5 notes in this set. Does anyone else ever need guy cards! When my husband came down and saw them he said something like "I like those - nice and simple." I thought to myself mission accomplished!

This is a set of six 3.5 square notes that could be used for messages of encouragement thus the title Cherish.
I mapped out my 12x12 sheet with small vertical borders on the outside edges and one dividing my sheet. Then I had two larger vertical sections -each divided into three sections. I used my homemade stampamajig to help place my images to get the best use of my sheet for my desired projects. I was a woman on a mission to make something I could use!

I stamped the script from Botanical Bliss in Smokey Grey all over the sheet and then stamped images in Onyx Black. The small dragonfly was a great filler/border image. I was able to us it to make several smaller note cards.

This was a first for me! Lesson learned - always mark the top of your acrylic block with tape so you know which way to stamp! Ask me how I know? Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great week!

Grin and Bear It!

Sorry it's has been a while since I posted. We were out of town for my nephew's wedding. It was such a joy to be a part of this special day and to see family and friends. I even had a chance to go to my favorite stamp store in Pittsburgh, Stamp Fanci. This was a real treat because there is no LSS where I Live.

I recently received Kim Hughes' Bear Hugs from Cornish Heritage Farms. I used this set to create a Stair Step card for week four of CHF's Summer Challenge which was to Make a Scene. The paper is from BASICGREY and I colored the images with Copics. The snowbanks were created using torn white card stock with fine Prisma Glitter glued to the torn edges. I thought this would be a fun card to send someone on a cold winter day with some cocoa. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you are staying cool!

It is week three of Cornish Heritage Farms Summer Challenge. This week participants are to use the resist technique. I chose to use CHF's new Vintage Text along with Printworks' Rose Colored Glasses and Inkadinkado's Dream Sentiment. DP is from K & Company's Ancestrey Pad.

This is a baby picture taken in 1920 of our son's Great Uncle John Foote, more lovingly known as Uncle Jack. Uncle Jack was one of the most loving and kind people I have ever met. Although he was only married for one year and never had children he had a profound love for them and they sensed it from their first encounter with him. He had an unassuming manner and was the kind that did not stand out in a crowd. Uncle Jack was always there to do whatever needed to be done for anyone and without complaint. Besides this he had a profound love for God. When our fourth child arrived who happened to be son number one we couldn't help but name him after his Uncle Jack. Our son had three years to get to know Uncle Jack before he went home to heaven and for that I am thankful. As a mother it is my dream if he grows into half the man his Uncle was we will truly be blessed.

The booklet was published in 1888 and is filled with words of wisdom. It was with Uncle Jack's belongings. Although Uncle Jack did not have a lot of possessions, I can't help but think his mother and grandmother would think of him as being successful! I used photo corners so I would not harm this gem and I adhered my flowers on the corner and outside edge of the booklet.

The poem entitled Mother's love was written in 1893 by Poe. It reads:

"I feel in the heavens above,

The angels, whispering to one another,

Can know, among their burning terms of love,

None so devotional as that of mother."

And as you can probably guess this describes Great Grandma! So there it is in a large nutshell a little bit of our family history and love! Thanks for bearing with me and I hope you have a day filled with love and memories!!

Garden Gate

When Grandma received an Easter bouquet in this cute container, immed-

iately the "Go Green " lights went on. After the flowers had dropped their last petals, I asked and Grandma graciously bestowed her Garden Gate container to me. She is very sweet that way!

Well, this week at Cornish Heritage Farms they are hosting a paper piecing challenge for their summer contest. And I thought Kim Hughes Bloomin' Beautiful would fit the bill for converting my container to a Bloomin' Beautiful Container! I used the blossom, leaves, stem, and tendril from this set to paper piece my vine. I stamped the images using Versamark and Wild Wasabi on DP from K & Co. The flowers are from six different purple designer papers from the Lilac Lavender Pad. It is hard to see the pattern on the lighter pieces in this photo. I used paper from the Hannah Scrap Pad for the greenery and I stamped the images on the front and back to get different perspetives. After I cut out my images I sponged any white edges with either Lavender Lace or Wild Wasabi. I used paper Glaze to adhere my pieces to the container. Buttons were added for the flower centers. I seem to always be in need of a thank you card, which is quite a nice problem to have! When I saw this Tom Allen image, Lending A Hand from Cornish Heritage Farms, I knew it would be perfect - plus my girls loved it! I used my Copics to color it and air brush the background. This was the first time I used my airbrush for a background. It was fun! Designer Paper is from K & Company. We have had out-of-town company, so I haven't been stamping too much. I thought this would be a fun wedding shower card for my nephew's bride to be. They are getting married in July. The Stamp Simply Recipe Challenge spurred me on in this direction. When I read about this challenge this image immediately came to mind! I knew I wanted to make some type of pocket card and when I saw okimom2girlz card I thought this would be the perfect fit! I am either going to give her a gift card to their favorite restaurant or include a list of all their favorite take out places and phone numbers with some cash. The recipe for the reservation is part of a journal note adhered to card stock which is attached to the inside front of this cris cros pocket card so something can be placed in the pocket. This also helps provide a colored background since Memory Box card stock has color on one side. Another idea I have is to make it into a refrigerator magnet card!

I made my own heart by covering white chipboard with red sticky tape and ran it through my Big Shot then applied Martha Stewart Snow Glitter and some Ultrafine Prisma Gold Glitter. DP is from Crafty Secrets Classic Pad. Image is from their Homemade Images and Journal Notes. I used my Bow Maker and Silk Ribbon from Stamp Simply to make the bow. Today's card is for my DH for Father's Day. I used the card sketch from Midnight Madness Challenge. This is also for Crafty Secret's Challenge to design a card that reflects something about yourself. Well here it is - I love my family and enjoy seeing them spend time with their Dad. Not all families have this privilege and I treasure it! The other extra blessing is when I'm not watching them play I get some stamping time!! I tend to multitask as you can see a card with more than one purpose. I love earth tones, vintage, Crafty Secrets, Graphic 45, ribbon, and embellishments! Well there it is in a nutshell! Oh - I almost forgot along with the image, the sentiment on the inside comes from Crafty Secrets Childhood Image and Journal Notes and it reads " A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty." Today's card was created for the Midnight Madness Sketch and Stamp Simply Half Circle Challenges. I like doing the challenges because they force my hand in directions I usually don't go! And as you could guess half circles are one of them! This card wasn't difficult - I just made use of Graphic45's Botanicabella Collection and Prism card stock. I recently received some silk ribbon and Bow Maker from Sharon's Stamp Simply Store and it was fun to play with! Thanks for coming by - hope your day is filled with sunshine and sweet dreams! I guess I'm on a roll with this Coffee theme! This was made for Crafty Secrets Party Crown and Hat Contest. When I saw the tiara I couldn't help but think of this Coffee and Tea Set . The crown is from the Favorite Fella Set. The crown was stamped on a brush gold card stock. I used DP from Graphic45's Botanicabella Collection . I refer to it as the Coffee Bean Paper. The image/sentiment were cut out with Nestabilities and mounted on a black from Basicgrey because it had a softer muted tone. One thing I like to do is when I have cut edges of DP showing white edges I sponge them with a similar ink. I used Copics to color my queen and gave her some jewelry with half pearls. Perk Up!

A quick and easy card for the Stamp Simply "Gone To Pot" Challenge. We had to incorporate some type of pot into our card. The image and sentiment are from Crafty Secrets Coffee and Tea Set. The inside reads "Perk Up!" Card size is 3 1/2 x 5. I have been wanting to use this Graphic45 paper with this stamp set because it reminds me of coffee beans! I was glad to finally get this idea that has been floating around in my head - made into a card! I used the black paper from BASICGREY's Urban Prairie Pad because it had a softer muted tone to it. I also added a paper strip from my DP across the lace to add a little something extra. I thought this card would make a good encouragement or get well card. Thanks for stopping by!

This card was made for this week's Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS. You were to make a card inspired by beach totes and towels from Lands End. This was fun and I think I might have my end of the year card for all my children's teachers - YAY!! You know as they get older the more teachers they have; so simple is a good thing! Garden Gift Bag

Today's project was made for Stampin Out Alzheimer's My Timeless Template (include clear element) and Stamp Simply's Spring Has Sprung Challenges. I had the pleasure of trying one of Lauren Meader's templates. I used the free Stocking Stuffer from Papertrey Ink. Instead of making a stocking I turned mine into a garden boot. I used Memory Box's DP for the boot. Then I simply traced around the stocking toe and bottom on white paper. I used my Fiskars trimmer and made a cut across the bottom and then from the toe made a straight vertical cut to meet the horizontal cut. This way I did not have to piece the toe and sole of the boot. The flowers were made from DCWV's textured card stock using the Large Daisey Sizzix Die. Clear buttons were sewn to the flower centers with embroidery floss. I usually use glue dots but didn't want the adhesive to show. The leaves were made with Family Treasure's punch. For those who are not familiar with this template there is a box behind the boot and another boot on the back. I thought this would make a great gift bag for a gardener with some seed packets or other small treasure. Thanks for stopping by and I hope your day is filled with joy!

I made this for Grandma to give to her dear friend's daughter who is going to be having a baby girl. I used the Midnight Madness Sketch, SCS WT220, and Stampin Out Alzheimers' Button Button Who's Got the Button Challenges as a base to create this card. If you haven't had the chance to check out Stampin Out Alzheimers it's not to late to join in on the fun just click on the icon in the sidebar. This is a cause that is dear to my heart because as some of you know our Grandma who has come to live with us has dementia. Image is from Crafty Secrets Joys of Life Booklet and DP is Graphic45's Baby and Bride Collection. I created my own custom Nestie shape for my image by cutting a rectangle and then piecing it together. I cut a card stock square to mount my pieces on to get a tight fit- then mounted my image on my new Nestie shape. I used Blush Blossom and distressed DP paper with Antique Linen. I mounted the image with a double layer of foam tape to add some gradual layers in my card because of the bulkiness of the bow. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!

Happy Memorial Day! Here is a quick gift bag for some homemade goodies. It is for the Stamp Simply #88 Red, White, and Blue and SCS Crafty Secrets Going in Circles Challenges. My images are from Crafty Secrets Cooking Cotton Scraps. I cut them with fabric scissors, peeled off the backing and mounted them with double sided tape. Thanks Darlene for your thoughts! The designer paper is from the Earthy and Radiant Crafty Secrets Pads. I colored my rolling pin handles with Copic R59. I used my Long Rectangle Nestabilities Die to make my scalloped edges. You're A Doll

This card is going to be for my big sis who called yesterday while she was stuck in traffic. We live about 4 hours away and she just wanted to check and see how I was doing. Recently grandma has come to live with us because she can no longer be on her own. It was one of those calls that came at just the right time. I guess I needed to talk and didn't even realize it! So I wanted to send this and tell her "You're a Doll... " The fun thing is this picture looks just like her when she was younger. The only difference is she would have rather been playing Cowboys and Indians - LOL!

This card was made using the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge 2. You have the liberty to alter the sketch as long as it resembles the original. Instead of placing my two horizontal strips under my image, I put them above and below. I used the double sided DP from Crafty Secrets Classic Pad. One side of the paper I used for my horizontal borders and right panel. I used the floral border from the other side and cut around the flowers for my left panel.

Today's card was made from Splitcoaststampers Sketch SC229. The image is from Crafty Secrets Childhood Images and Journal Notes. Designer paper is Graphic 45's Baby and Bride Collection. I also used Prism Cream cardstock. I just received my silk ribbon from Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Ribbon Store and I love it! I used the cream on this card and then adhered some buttons on top. Happy Anniversary Honey!

I made this card for the Crafty Secret's Challenge on Paper Craft Planet. After it was done I thought who could I give this to?? Then the lights went on - it would make the perfect anniversary card for my husband. When we got married my hubby was getting ready to enter seminary and the proud owner of a Schwin bicycle - yet to be paid off. I was working as a nurse and paying off my "Vette" well that is Chevette. You know the kind of car where you need to get a running start to get up a hill. Early 80's version of the Smart Car.

Twenty-four years later things have changed somewhat. The bike is paid off and we now have a mini van that fits our family of seven - dad, mom, four kids, and grandma.

This is one of those cards where the stamp and papers do all the work! No coloring needed. The image was stamped on vanilla with Graphite Black and mounted with foam tape. All papers were distressed with Antique Linen. Background DP was sewn to card. Well that's it - thanks for stopping by!

Today's card is for the Midnight Madness Challenge. If you have a chance go and check it out! Thought this would make a great birthday or friendship card with a note inside that says "It's No Secret...." I used paper from Crafty Secrets Radiant Pad and the image is from their Girlfriends Images and Journal Notes. The background was embossed with the Swiss Dot folder. I used score tape to apply Onyx glitter border around the outer edge of diary page. Jewelry was embellished with half pearls. Fabric photo corners are from EK Success. Hard to see in photo but I added glitter to the flowers. Hope you Have a Wonderful Day and remember "It's no secret that I appreciate your support and encouragement! "

Saw The Smoke...

My neighbor is a retired firefighter and yesterday was his birthday. I made this card for him. This type of card could be used to honor a firefighter or for a birthday with a note like this - "I saw the smoke and almost called the fire dept. but then I realized it was your birthday!" I didn't have the heart to do the latter! I used K& Company's Firefighter Scrap Kit. Along with paper from Cosmo Cricket's Little Boy Collection. I wrapped the card with black twine and then mounted my image on foam tape. The edges were sanded and inked with Antique Linen and True Thyme. This card is also for Sharon Johnson's ssnotime87 "For the Guy's Challenge" where you had to add string, cord, rope, or knots. I love doing these challenges because it forces my hand in directions I might not go. Yesterday was the color combo and today the wrapped string. I always have admired the string wrapped cards but never made one so here it is! Thanks for stopping by!

CTD42 Who Could Fill Your Flip Flops???

I made this card for a friend who has made a big impact on our children's lives. She is involved in the youth and music ministry at our church. It looks like she will be moving at the end of the summer because her husband will be atttending graduate school. We live 20 minutes from the beach and flip flops are in no matter how cold it is and it snows here! So I thought this would be a fun card to give her to show our appreciation - thus the title "Who Could Fill Your Flip Flops?"

It also qualifies for thr CTD42 and Splicoaststampers LSC220. I used BASICGREY'S Urban Prairie paper and the stamp is from A Muse. The flip flops are paper pieced and I added Hero Arts gems. Nestabilites and Circle Punch were used to make the circles. The ribbon is very rich in color and it is a faux suede.Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great weekend!

First Aid Tin

Today on Splitcoaststampers the Ways to Use It Challenge (WT218) is to decorate a tin. I thought this tin would make a great traveling first aid kit for the car, diaper bag, or for use at home. I used a hinged tin and covered it with paper from My Mind's Eye - Tres Jolee. The images are from Crafty Secrets feeling Feeling Yucky Set. They were stamped in Graphite Black and I heat set them before coloring with Copics. The band-aid and hearts were stamped an then cut out and adhered. Ovals were cut out with Nestabilities. Dimensional glaze was added to the tears. The ribbon is from American Crafts Green Classic selection. Thanks for stopping by and if you need a band aid....

Hello! It is a sunny balmy day here and I am loving it!! Today I made a thank you card. I never seem to have enough of these. The image is from Crafty Secrets Birds and Botanicals Images and Journal Notes. Designer paper is Graphic45's Baby and Bride Collection. I used Prismatic Cream Paper for my border panels. Edges were distressed with Antique Linen. I placed cardstock underneath my paper image to provide sturdiness because I was mounting it with foam tape . Flowers are Prima and pearl centers are from K & Co. Thanks for taking a look and I hope sunshine fills your day !

This is a quick and easy Get Well card I made for a friend
who has been in the hospital. I used Crafty Secrets
"Feeling Yucky" stamp set. I love this set! It has great images that do all the work for you. This cute nurse was stamped on vanilla with Graphite Black Brillance and heat set before coloring with Copics. I used Antique Linen ink to distress the edges of my paper. Designer paper is from K & Company's Classic Pad. Then added a few embellishments. Punch is from Martha Stewart. This card qualifies for SCS Crafty Secrets Challenge CSSC68 where you had to use a flower or flour. Come and join the fun it's a great group of stampers. Thanks for taking a look! Hello! For the first time I am entering the world of blogging! This will mainly be a journal of my creative journey. I am grateful to Darlene and Sharon for their encouragement and help in this endeavor. Today's post contains a card I made for Sharon Johnson's ssnotime86 challenge and Crafty Secrets Inspirational Challenge CSSC67. This flower was made from Crafty Secrets Radiant Paper using an oval punch. The petals were mounted on a piece of chipboard which was adhered to a pin back. The size of this blossom is 2 7/8" . I used my silent setter to place holes in the front panel to thread the pin back through. I made a double fold at the top of the card so the card would lay flat. Stamp sets used are Vintage Christmas and Bouquet of Joy from Crafty Secrets. The black velvet paper is old stash from Embossing Arts. Thanks for coming and taking a look!
